Unlike my raining arrival in SoCal, it was clear, sunny and warm today. We started our day at the Holt House hanging with Augie and leisurely getting ready for our day. Since Zach had to go make the money, that left Martha, Augie and me to roam about town having fun. First we took a drive past the famous Rose Bowl - very cool. Then we headed up to Griffith Observatory to take in the view of LA - very impressive - I had almost forgot how big it is and how close to the ocean. It was then time for lunch, so we headed to the Americana Mall and tried out Frida, a Mexican restaurant where the little man fully enjoyed his avocado:
Martha had the Frida platter and I had the Huevos con Chorizo with some very yummy corn tortillas. And we all agreed that the green salsa was incredible.
Next we meandered around the mall (it is an outdoor one, which was great in the sunny weather). I found a lovely green scarf on sale at Anthropologie (is this the confession of a shopaholic?) and we drooled over some really cute bags at kate spade. We then headed back home to get Augie ready for his nap, but before he completely tuckered out, I managed to capture some adorable photos of this cute kid:
Once Augie was down for his nap, Martha and I kicked back and had a great time catching up - so nice to get some one on one time, it seems we are always so busy when they come to Seattle.
Before traffic got too bad, I decided I should get headed to Brea - my next stop in SoCal. It worked and by 4:30, I was pulling up in front of the Curtis' - friends I have been missing terribly since my last visit to see them almost 3 years ago!
We've had a full night making up for lost time. I was treated to a fantastic dinner of steak, pilaf and green salad, with Silvana's classic Italian dressing - I was drooling as she prepared everything, remembering how much I always love her food! Then we headed off to dance class for the girls - ballet technique - they are such lean, graceful, beautiful dancers - it was really fun to watch them. :-)
Now we're home finishing up homework, hanging out in our PJs, and planning our day tomorrow at "the happiest place on earth". Yep - I'm a VERY grateful girl. :-D
We had so much fun with Auntie Dalene! Thanks for coming to stay, we loved having you. Augie misses his "chase around the house" buddy.
ReplyDeleteOk, so the picture of Augie standing? Could he look more like Zach? At least in terms of build? Wow. Those are so cute!
I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Pasadena. I think the shopping there is really nice. AND those photos of Augie are great. Thanks for posting them. norma
ReplyDeleteHi Dalene-
ReplyDeleteI love all your pictures and the tales of each day's adventures. Thank you for taking us along.
We at Evergreen Bible Fellowship missed you Sunday for potluck. Janice
@Martha - We'll have to do some more chasing when you come to Seattle for Christmas, then! Thanks for the hospitality. :-)
ReplyDelete@Norma - Always happy to add to the "grandchild" picture stock. :-)
@Janice - How sad, I missed potluck. :-( Hope you ate some yummy stuff for me!
