Before leaving the Grand Canyon, I went back for a few more glimpses. It was cloudy and windy today, so I was glad I did most of my exploring yesterday. Here's a few shots from Yavapai Point, this time west of the visitor center:
I also took a peek at the El Tovar Hotel (a national historic site) and the Hopi House:
It was then time to leave, so I made my way toward Tuscon. I was strongly encouraged to take the side-route through Sedona, and what a great piece of advice that was! I was almost caught off guard by the sharp, steep, twisty drop into the canyon - here's a shot looking back up the canyon wall after coming nearly to the bottom:
Near the halfway point to Sedona:
Sedona itself was bustling with shoppers and looked like a lot of fun, but I needed to keep moving. I had time for only one more stop, just outside of town, to capture the amazing red rock stacks:
So now I'm here in Tucson, safe and sound, looking forward to just hanging out with my Aunt Ellen tomorrow. Phew!
I'm glad to hear you got to see a bit of Sedona. It's been a while since we've been there, but the red rocks sure make a lasting impression. Say hello to Aunt Ellen. norma
